Following this weeks’ announcement of Jordan Nobbs’ selection for the Women’s World Cup squad, ESRG Group expressed their delight at the decision, having sponsored Jordan since September 2013. Jordan said “I am thrilled to have been chosen as one of the 23 squad members playing under the leadership of England boss Mark Sampson, and that the support of ESRG Group on the build up to this has been invaluable”
The daughter of former Hartlepool United defender Keith Nobbs, Jordan is a combative goal scoring central midfielder. She was born and brought up in Stockton-on-Tees, and played for Sunderland before a prestigious transfer to Arsenal in 2010, having won the FA Young Player of the Year Award in the same year. Jordan is just 22 years old; with 21 caps and numerous national and international goals already under her belt, she is now really living up to expectations and carving a formidable reputation as a player who can make things happen.
England’s opening game, against France, will be played in Canada on 9 June, three days after the tournament starts. England previously crashed out of Euro 2013 at the group stage without winning a game, under former coach Hope Powell. Sampson’s squad selection for 2015 combines several old faces and some new recruits, all selected for the strength to navigate out of a challenging group including France, Mexico and Colombia.
Tony Copsey of ESRG Sport and Leisure is “proud to support Jordan’s journey, as her hard work and consistency is absolutely on a par with the ESRG ethos”. He continues, “The ESRG Group and ESRG Sports are dedicated to backing such great sports people, as part of our programme of sponsorship packages across the North East”. Jordan joins other ESRG-sponsored leading lights, such as pro boxers Bradley and Jeff Saunders. In addition, the ESRG Group is the principle community scheme partner of Mowden Park. This three year deal will see major investment into an array of community projects across the North East. The ESRG Group of companies – who specialise in a range of financial services with credentials and experience both in the UK and worldwide – have been linked to a number of significant investment projects across the region.
