With a business forecast reaching across a full range of sport, Independent Sports Group is initially focussing its strength on managing the needs of sportspeople within the world of rugby. The company offers a full range of services, from financial planning, managing contractual negotiations and commercial rights deals, to media representation and PR. Quality of service and professionalism is guaranteed by maintaining a small and elite client base, ensuring the needs of clients are consistently foremost and consistently fulfilled. Independent Sports Group currently represents: 21 Premiership players, 6 Pro12 players, an England 7s player, and 7 Championship players.
Independent Sports Group has been established by former Leicester Tigers rugby player Billy Clark, who transitioned into coaching following early retirement through injury. Having successfully transformed the Gloucester Rugby and London Irish academy programmes he moved into player representation, noting a space in the market for experienced individuals who understand the career progression of professional players, the nature of pitfalls en route to becoming an established player, and a proven track record in guiding young players to premiership and international rugby. The business prides itself on working with young players through their transitional academy years into senior rugby, ensuring the right advice, support and playing programmes are in place to ensure they then thrive as senior professional players.
ISG’s most notable win was announced in April 2017 when London Irish winger Joe Cokanasiga has been named in Eddie Jones’ 31-man England squad for the two-Test tour to Argentina in June. Cokanasiga, 19, who was part of the England Under-20s side that was crowned U20 Six Nations Champions, has scored five tries in 11 appearances for the Exiles this season.
“ISG is leading the way in sporting management, at any level. I am incredibly optimistic about their future in Billy’s hands and am delighted with the relationship between ERSG and ISG.”
