Emma Wiggs Shortlisted for Sportswomen of the Year 2017

The ESRG Group celebrated another triumph this week, as its investment company EMERGE Sport Management announced that client Emma Wiggs MBE had reached the shortlist for the Sunday Times Disability Sportswoman of the Year 2017.

Wiggs’ nomination is the pinnacle of an incredible 12 months which has seen her retain the British, European and World Championship titles. These titles, along with her Rio 2016 Paralympics Gold medal, means she currently has the distinction of being a Grand Slam champion, a rarity in modern sport, and puts her amongst the greats of British sporting heroes.

EMERGE Sports Management was established in 2016, working with a select group of talented female athletes to enhance their marketing, communications, and commercial success. The ESRG Group forged a relationship having identified the EMERGE as a strong choice of investment partner. It also complemented ESRG Sport and Leisure’s existing portfolio, which holds a strong investment presence in the sports industry.

The Sportswomen Awards are among the most prestigious and influential in the British sporting calendar and are supported by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, UK Sport, Sport England and Women in Sport. Speaking of her nomination, Emma said; “I am incredibly proud to be nominated for the Sunday Times Disability Sportswoman of the Year award, and want to thank everyone who voted for me. I have trained so hard this year, especially the long hours in the gym working on getting stronger, so it’s been a great seeing the hard work pay off on the water. I’m honoured to be shortlisted alongside my teammate Jeanette as well, demonstrating the strength of British paracanoeing at the moment, and the great support team we have in place.”
The Awards will be held in central London, on Thursday 26th October, and broadcast live from 8pm on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Action.

Speaking on behalf of the ESRG Group, David Evans congratulated Wiggs on “a truly incredible year, which comes as a result of her hard work and dedication. The ESRG Group has seen firm development and great results within EMERGE, and is proud to be associated with such a dedicated and driven leadership team”.
